One of the most feared critters in our area is the Brown Recluse Spider. The internet is full of gross pictures of the effects of brown recluse bites, so I won’t post them here. They like quiet, out of the way places (hence the name) and like all spiders, they are ninjas. Like ninjas they are more active at night than day. The only good news about the Brown Recluse Spider is the end of the breeding season is in July.
We sell a Brown Recluse Spider trap from the folks at Big H Products. Each package contains 5 pre-baited traps. These glue traps also work on other critters and are an excellent way to sample what else lives in the dark spaces of the house.
In most cases, I consider the application of poisons a last resort. But in the case of the Brown Recluse I see no reason not to use them. If you decide to use insecticides please read and follow the label direction.
