Tips for the Month
HELPFUL TIPS FOR SEPTEMBER 2010
1. Time for organic pre-emergent on our yards which would be Corn Gluten Meal. Apply at a rate of 20#'s per 1,000 S.F. or don't complain about your weeds. Powered Corn Gluten Meal works more immediate than granulated but granulated is a lot easier to spread. Our recommendation is that you apply Corn Gluten Meal twice. The first time in September and the second time in October. This type of application schedule will hopefully get most winter weeds.
2. This is also the time of year fungal issues will start showing up in our yards. Corn Meal applied at a rate of 10#'s per 1,000 S.F. will stop the fungus in grass. There is a product called Actinovate that you can mix with water and spray if that is easier for you to apply.
