Baby chicks are frequently for sale at Wells Brothers in Plano. Below are the types of chicks we have on order for the spring. Order quantity and types can change, it all depends on the hatch. All chicks are pullets, with 90% accuracy. Pick up a couple and have fresh eggs before you know it. We offer a variety of chicks, call to find out which type is currently available.
- Barred Rocks – Lay on average 250 medium sizes brown eggs per year.
- Easter Eggers – These are backyard favorites. They lay an average of 200 eggs per year in a variety of colors.
- Red Island Red – In general, a Rhode Island hen will lay around 5-6 eggs/week, and between 200-300 per year. These eggs are medium to large and light brown in color.
- Buff Orpington – Buff Orpingtons make excellent egg layers, producing around 200 to 280 large brown eggs per year.
- Silver-Laced Wyandotte – lay approximately 200 large brown eggs each year.
- Ameraucana – Ameraucanas lay on average 3-4 medium sizes blue eggs weekly.
