Wells Brothers is now on our third point of sale system in thirteen years. Not too bad considering we got air conditioning in 2001! There are several reasons for the upgrade. Number one is to be able to track products better allowing us to have the right amount of inventory at the time our customers need it. Number two is that our last system was ten years old and technology has changed, a lot. The list goes on but you get the idea. One thing this new system allows us to do is track customer purchases by name, email address, phone number, etc.
I will tell you that in general I hate it when stores track my purchases and collect data on me. Maybe it’s my age or remembering Watergate, I just don’t like it. But, in 2012 I received a call from a store informing me of a recall of one of the products I had purchased. As it turned out they saved me a lot of heartache and I started to reevaluate my position on the subject. Wells Brothers has had about five product recalls over the last ten years. We contacted all the customers we could by manually checking sale invoices. It was tedious, expensive and absolutely necessary. I encourage you to sign up on the new system and I promises you that Wells Brothers will never sell or divulge any of our customer’s information to anyone. Even to the NSA or whoever else is listening.
